Hello Folks! Casey here…
We are so proud to announce at the 2013 New York Wine and Food Classic Benmarl Winery brought home a medal for every single wine entered. Including… GOLD Medals for our ’12 Semi Dry Riesling, ’12 Semi Sweet Riesling, SILVER Medals for our ’11 Dry Riesling, our ’10 Cabernet Franc, ’10 Proprietors Reserve, ’11 Slate Hill Red and a BRONZE for our delicious ’12 Dry Rose.
Harvest is right around the corner now- we’re about a week away from harvesting our Baco Noir here at the vineyard. In the mean time, things have been very busy catching up with our wine club, preparing to label our new 2012 vintages, and prepping the tank room for the o-so-sweet grape juice that’s about to flood the tanks! We also have a film crew here at the winery until September 4th filming a German movie. The tasting room is still open from 12-6 pm so stop by to see some of the action!
Matthew and I also just got back from our annual vacation- the east end of Long Island where (of course) we found ourselves at both the North Fork Wineries, and the South Fork Wineries. As you may or may not know, Benmarl sources grapes from three different regions, the Hudson Valley (our estate) the Finger Lakes and Long Island. While we were down visiting, we also spent a little time with our Chardonnay and Merlot plots and boy are the clusters looking fantastic! If you have never been down to Long Island for wine tasting, we highly recommend it!
We hope to see you all very soon at the vineyard. We’ll keep you posted with photos as harvest moves along.
Happy Harvest everyone- enjoy these last beautiful days of summer. xo Casey
